Description
The bald cypress is a native tree to the southeastern United States that grows in many of the waterways in the SouthEast and here seen on the Apalachicola River. Bald cypresses are well-adapted to wet conditions along riverbanks and swamps.
The Apalachicola River in northwest Florida is part of a three-State drainage basin encompassing 50,800 km 2 in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. The river is formed by the confluence of the Chattahoochee and Flint Rivers at Jim Woodruff Dam from which it flows 171 km to Apalachicola Bay in the Gulf of Mexico.
